Why I Left Modeling in Japan — And How I Took My Beauty Back

When I first stepped into the modeling scene at 17 in Japan

I was quickly taught that the standards of beauty in Asia are different

Every day I was surrounded by beautiful women

With flawless skin

Porcelain features

Slim beautiful figures

AGELESS

Level of grace that seemed almost unattainable

I was told to change to fit into their mold of what beauty SHOULD look like

Lighten your skin

Lose more weight (I was a size 0, btw)

Be more feminine

Look exotic, but not TOO different

Everything I was

JUST WASN’T ENOUGH

And it CRUSHED my confidence

I felt like I had to CHASE an impossible standard

A moving target that I could NEVER quite hit

More I tried to fit in?

I LOST MYSELF

No matter how much I tried to fit in

I would NEVER truly be happy trying to meet society’s expectations of beauty

The constant pressure, the feeling of never being enough

IT WAS EXHAUSTING

And when I got fired for premature aging

I was DONE with modeling

Japan may have challenged my perception of beauty

But it also taught me an invaluable lesson

True beauty lies from within

It might sound cheesy, but the science can prove it inside Genki System™️

It all begins with your vibration

What you say to your cells

How you feed your body

What your mind consumes

That’s how you begin to find your BEST version of yourself

Stop letting others tell you what you should look like

Start living for yourself and you’ll begin to AGE 10 YEARS BACKWARDS

Learn what I discovered after living in Asia for DECADES

Use it for YOUR benefit

Not the benefit of Big Beauty Biz ✌🏼

Love, Kelly

About Kelly Prehn

Kelly's journey began unexpectedly when a Models 1 agent spotted her in Covent Garden during a ballet rehearsal. Despite landing a six-figure Japanese contract immediately, upon arrival in Tokyo she was deemed 'overweight', fired and sent back to London.

Her breakthrough came when Mr. Shu of Shu Uemura recognized her potential, launching her acclaimed career as a beauty and fashion model across Asia—from Japan and Korea to China and Singapore.

Leveraging her industry expertise, Kelly transitioned from modeling to sharing beauty insights as a columnist, becoming a highly recognized advocate for niche traditional wellness and healing modalities. She was the first to bring these transformative practices to a wider audience. Her influence grows rapidly: 1.4 million books in print, tens of millions of women reached through her teachings on social media, she currently impacts 11 million women monthly—and growing.
